The Power of Belief in Regard to Religion and Spirituality: Psychic, Discernment, or Intuition?
Updated: Sep 6

As I was contemplating what to express today, several things came to mind! I haven't tapped back into the book I've been reading after the first chapter, which was briefly discussed here (disclaimer: it's a 21:51 min. YouTube video of me casually talking...as in sipping on tea in the comfort of my home and running my mouth):
(somebodyyy said they wanted to read the book with me but never did) Plus, it's been interesting so far, and I want to comprehend the lil' details. Knowing me, I'm gonna finish way before they flip to the first page. Anywho, I think I'm just gonna go with the flow (I know "going" is the correct grammar but blah...moving right along) and get into my thoughts on spirituality, religion, and synchronicities (if you find this post, don't tear me down or cancel me yet?!).
I feel the need to go down memory lane regarding my religious background because, let's be real, religion is a touchy (controversial) topic. I grew up in the Baptist church (Christianity) and was in the choir, on the usher board, and even went to bible school as a child. Shout out to Upward Bound, honey! I was a cheerleader, basketball player, and proudly recited verses, learned the books of the bible, and memorized the Beatitudes (which I can no longer confidently remember). As time passed, I was also able to gain more knowledge by practicing Judaism. I believe we were Messianic, and Chile; that was an interesting experience as well. When this happened, I feel like a lot of things changed, but for whatever reason, I feel like those juicy details aren't relevant to the point I want to make today.
Once that experience ended, we became non-denominational Christians. As I started to branch out into my own individuality, I began to start my own journey into spirituality. This may sound wrong, but even growing up I never felt like I was a part of the church. I enjoyed being an usher, going to vacation bible school, seeing everyone, and fellowshipping, but it felt...well...ritualistic (disclaimer: there's nothing wrong with that though! I'm not trying to judge). Even after I got baptized, I believe in 2009, it was a beautiful experience, and I did it to give my life to God (The Divine). Anywho, I would see the elders running and shouting and feel the energy of everyone and everything going on, but I could never bring myself to do the same thing. Even after all the hell on Earth I've been through, the tears I've cried, and everything else...I just sit there. Don't get me wrong, though! Put some gospel or a seminar on at the house, and I'll probably praise, worship, or bop a lil' bit because that's where I'm comfortable and it's a part of my foundation growing up. I even remember going to a church with my aunt my first semester of undergrad, and I enjoyed it because it was chill. The singing was brief; there was no begging for offerings (a basket was passed around, though) or drawn-out announcements; the word was taught, we picked up our refreshments (speaking to the pastor was also an option before leaving), and chile, we left...simple.
Back to spirituality though! As I briefly mentioned here: Should I Monetize My Intellectual Property? It’s Time to “INVEST.”, I've always been a lover of all things taboo, and as I started to research and gain knowledge on my own, I noticed that Western World religion is completely different from other cultures and what they believe. Now let's be clear before I continue: I stand firm in not being a person who worships demonic entities like Satanism or anything of that nature (I could go into this in further detail, but I'm gonna leave it alone) ...BUT other religions in the world were created far before Christianity...for example, Catholicism and Hinduism. Whew, okay...now that I got that out of the way, as I tapped into spirituality, I started to notice the similarities between religions and how they're indoctrinated, but with spirituality there's a universal unity that everyone is connected. The caveat to spirituality, though, is that...well...it can also be a bit unhinged, unrealistic, and have false prophets/prophetess just like any other religion.
I was having a great conversation with my mother(She's Christian) about how our character should speak for what we believe in, and if we're the "chosen ones" to other people, or whatever it is we believe in, it's unnecessary to announce out loud all the time. I even made the mistake of doing that last year when I was ranting and raging on "X, formerly known as Twitter," which I explained a little bit here: The Beginning of Healing Through Honesty: Taking Accountability.
Personally, I don't think I believe in psychics, BUT I do believe in spiritual gifts, discernment, and intuition. I feel like there's this connection to Mother Nature, a.k.a. Mother Gaia, a.k.a. God, a.k.a. The Divine, and the energy is readily available for us to tap into if we choose to. Now, do I believe in synchronicities? Absolutely. Some of us are connected to The Divine in a way that doesn't need to be done to manipulate the masses and if we take the time to sit with ourselves, breathe (a.k.a. meditate a.k.a. pray) with the understanding of not only ourselves but what's going on around us, there's a universal energy that can be felt sometimes...or maybe it's just to one's personal life...that's okay too.
At this stage of my life, I'm not here to convince anyone to conform to what I believe in because everyone is going to do what they want, but BELIEF is a powerful thing, especially when it comes to how we live. I even think back at some of the things I ranted about, and some of them manifested, and some didn't.
Nonetheless, I've moved on, and life is a lot more grounded and peaceful. Hopefully this doesn't cancel me or make me a "demonic spirit," but those are my current observations. I'm even seeing how religion is now trying to tie spirituality into their messages, and I'm here for it, but for those who really want to know the truth...well, to be honest, it's readily accessible and available, and it's up to us as individuals to seek. (Hopefully this wasn't too controversial, honey).
